Coffee for Cans, Canning and Vending

Coffee that ends up in a can or a vending machine has to do two things at once: exist in large volumes and taste the same for months. The Swiss Espresso Extractor® is built for exactly this kind of further processing.

Coffee in cans

For the canning industry the machine delivers extract at whatever concentration the recipe calls for, adjustable from 3 to 12 Brix. Each brew yields 5 litres at 6 Brix. Output is matched to the filling line by running several units in parallel.

Concentrated coffee in bag-in-box

Vending operators work with concentrated coffee that is diluted inside the machine. At the upper end of the Brix range the extract is suitable for this without any subsequent boiling down. That saves a processing step and preserves the aromas.

Why consistency matters here

A filled product carries a label with fixed figures. If the extract varies, the product varies. The machine controls the process through time, temperature, pressure and coffee volume, and grinds the 2.0 kg of each batch fresh. One person starts the cycle, which then runs autonomously under supervision.

Hot or cold extraction

With a brewing temperature from 20 to 92 degrees, the same machine covers classic espresso and cold brew. For canned coffee that is drunk cold, the latter is the obvious route, and switching costs no changeover time.
